      Rechargeable headlamp Fenix HM50R V2.0

Like its sister HM51R Ruby V2.0, the HM50R V2. 0 has undergone a number of improvements. This is the second generation of these headlamps and if you're interested in the differences between them, check out the blog post.

TheFenix HM50R V2.0 headlamp is the ideal companion for a variety of sporting activities, outdoor excursions, and home and work. It offers upto 700 lumens of power, a range of 115 meters and a red light. It can be powered by either the RCR123A Li-ion battery (included) or the disposable CR123A battery (limited to a max output of 130 lumens). The RCR123A battery can be recharged via the USB-C connector directly in the headlamp.

The light source is a high-end Cree XP-G3 S4 LED with a daylight tint (6000 K). The control button on the side of the headlamp also incorporates an indicator LED which, when pressed, shows the battery charge status.

The headlamp is equipped with a battery life extension function. With prolonged use, it gradually reduces the power in small increments to achieve a longer light duration (see endurance chart).

Endurance graph of the Fenix HM50R V2.0 headlamp

The all-metal construction ensures high durability, optimal cooling and is also fully waterproof according to IP68 standard up to a depth of 2 meters underwater. The practicality of the headlamp is enhanced by the ability to remove the light from the head holder and use it as a small pocket flashlight.

All flashlight parameters (luminous flux, battery life, waterproofness, range and shock resistance) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.

      Technical parameters

      • Max battery life 120 hours
      • Power options: 1x CR123A, 1x RCR123A, USB-C charging
      • Number of modes 6
      • Waterproof IP68 (2m immersion)
      • Light color Daylight white (5500-6500 K)
      • Light source Cree XP-G3, Everlight 2835
      • Weight 78 g

Parameters of the Fenix HM50R V2.0 head torch

      • It uses a powerful Cree XP-G3 S4 LED (6000K) and two red Everlight LEDs, all with a lifetime of 50000 hours.
      • Four white light modes: 700 lumens (1 hour) -> 400 lumens (3 hours) -> 130 lumens (8 hours) -> 30 lumens (42 hours).
      • Two red light modes: 5 lumens (60 hours) -> red flashing 5 lumens (120 hours).
      • Smooth light cone with a range of up to 115 meters (3350 cd)
      • Electronics with extended light time function gradually reduces the power in small increments.
      • Protection against reverse insertion of batteries.
      • Uses one Fenix RCR123A 700 mAh Li-ion battery for power. included.
      • In an emergency, a single disposable 3V CR123A lithium battery can also be used to power, but the highest available mode will be 130 lumens.
      • Convenient control by a single electronic switch on the side of the headlamp.
      • The headlamp remembers the last set power mode (only valid for white light).
      • Indication of battery charge status.
      • Strap with reflective elements.
      • Cleverly designed holder also functions as a buckle if the headlamp is removed from the strap.
      • The headlamp can be rotated in the holder over a wide range to set the desired direction of light.
      • Made of aluminium alloy with a heavily damagedType III hard anodized.
      • Shock resistant to falls from a height of 2 metres.
      • Dustproof and waterproof to IP68 standard (tested underwater at a depth of 2 metres).
      • Headlamp dimensions including holder: 6.4 cm x 3.6 cm x 3.2 cm.
      • Weight 78 grams (including battery and straps).
      • Includes headlamp, head strap, buckle, spare o-ring, Fenix ARB-L16-700P 700 mAh battery and USB-C charging cable.
      • The headlamp can be accompanied by a Fenix APB-20 case and a set of black AFH-02 straps without reflective elements. Suitable for hunting, military or police, for example.
      • The headlamp can be attached to the handlebars with Lockblock and Bikeblock after removing it from the holder.
      • It is also possible to purchase a USB mains adapter and a USB car adapter or a spare battery RCR123A with micro-USB connector or a spare battery with a higher capacity of 800 mAh.

      Use

There may be a black insulating cap on the battery inside the flashlight at the factory. Remove it from the battery pack before first use.

When switched off, the headlamp switches to the last used white light mode by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.

The off headlamp is switched to red light by pressing the button twice quickly.

The headlamp is switched off by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.

When the headlamp is switched on, the power modes can be cycled through in the sequence 30 - 130 - 400 - 700 lumens (when switched on to white light) or red - red flash (when switched on to red light) with short button presses. The flashlight has a memory and always switches on in the last set mode (only valid for white light).

Overheat protection: operation on the highest mode is limited to 1 minute, then the output is gradually reduced to approx. 500 lumens over 5 minutes. If the internal temperature of the lamp rises above 60°C, it will automatically start to reduce the output further in gradual steps until the temperature stabilizes. As soon as the temperature of the lamp drops below 60°C, the power will increase again gradually.

Battery indication: after a short press of the button (the headlamp must be switched off) the LED indicator in the button is activated. If the indicator LED is green, the battery is more than 80% charged. Green flashing indicates 50-80% capacity. If the light is red, the battery is charged to 20-50%. Red flashing indicates less than 20% of the battery capacity remains. The indication only works correctly with RCR123A / 16340 rechargeable batteries.

Charging. After charging the flashlight, reseal the charging connector with the rubber cap. Charging a fully discharged battery takes approximately 1.5 hours. In an emergency, the flashlight can be used while charging, but only the lowest white mode and red modes will be available.

Low battery warning: if the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will automatically switch to lower power modes. If the headlamp is already switched to the lowest power mode and the battery is critically low, the indicator in the button will flash red. However, the headlamp will continue to illuminate until the battery is completely drained. Note: the low battery warning is calibrated to the voltage of rechargeable Li-ion batteries only.

To lock the headlamp against accidental switching on.rt speed, the electrical contact is broken and the headlamp cannot be switched on. The button can also be locked electronically - when the headlamp is switched off, hold the button down for 3 seconds. After locking, the flashlight flashes red. To unlock, hold the button again for 3 seconds.

      Attention

      • Do not disassemble the sealed parts yourself, this will violate the warranty.
      • Use only good quality batteries to avoid damaging the flashlight, for example due to battery leakage.
      • Remove the batteries from the flashlight if you will not be using it for a long time or if the batteries are already dead. Otherwise, some inferior batteries may damage the headlamp.
      • If the headlamp flickers, does not switch to higher power modes, or does not light up, it may be due to one of the following reasons:
      • The batteries are almost dead - replace them.
      • The headlamp cap is loose - tighten it.
      • The electrical contacts are dirty - clean them with a sponge dipped in alcohol.
      • Warranty
      • Five years warranty on the headlamp and two years on the battery.
