Like its sister HM50R V2.0, the HM51R Ruby V2. 0 has undergone a number of improvements. This is the second generation of these headlamps and if you're interested in the differences between them, check out the blog post.
TheFenix HM51R V2.0headlamp is the ideal companion for a variety of sporting activities, outdoor excursions, and home and work. It offers a luminous flux of up to 700 lumens, neutral white light (4500 K) with a range of up to 120 meters. It is equipped with red LEDs. It is powered by a single rechargeable battery type RCR123A (included), which is recharged directly in the flashlight via the USB-C connector, alternatively a disposable CR123A lithium battery can be used for power (limited to a max output of 150 lumens).
The control button also features an indicator LED so you always know when to recharge the battery. The end of the flashlight is magnetic, so it can easily be attached to anything metal. The HM51R has nine different lighting modes, allowing you to choose between high power and long lasting (up to 120 hours). The flashlight is powered by a digitally controlled constant current, which guarantees a constant light output even when the battery voltage is reduced (when the batteries are slowly discharging).
Theall-metal construction ensures high durability, optimal cooling and is also fully waterproof according to IP68 standard up to a depth of 2 meters under water. The practicality of the headlamp is enhanced by the ability to remove the light from the head holder and use it as a small pocket flashlight. In addition, the headlamp is equipped with a steel removable clip, so you can easily attach it to your pocket or strap.
The Fenix HM51R is a limited edition headlamp that is based on the Fenix HM50R headlamp and offers a number of improvements. For example, warmer light tint, magnetic tip, constant control in most modes, multiple red light modes and more.
All flashlight parameters (lumen output, battery life, waterproofing, range and shock resistance) are measured in accordance with ANSI/NEMA FL 1-2009.
There may be a black insulating cap on the battery inside the flashlight at the factory. Remove it from the battery pack before first use.
When switched off, the headlamp switches to the last used white light mode by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
Switch the headlamp off to the last used red light mode by pressing the button twice quickly.
The headlamp is switched off by holding the button for 0.5 seconds.
When the headlamp is switched on, the power modes can be cycled through in the order of 3 - 50 - 150 - 400 - 700 lumens (when switched to white light) or red 1 lumen - red 5 lumens - red flash - red SOS (when switched to red light) with short button presses. The flashlight has a memory and will always turn on in the last set mode (applies to both white and red light).
Overheat protection: operation on the highest mode is limited to 1 minute, after which the output is gradually reduced to approx. 500 lumens over 5 minutes. If the internal temperature of the lamp rises above 60°C, it will automatically start to reduce the output further in gradual steps until the temperature stabilises. As soon as the temperature of the lamp drops below 60°C, the power will increase again gradually. Operation in the 400 lumen mode is limited to 5 minutes, after which the output will gradually decrease to 200 lumens over 5 minutes.
The LED indicator in the button is activated after a short press of the button (the headlamp must be switched off). If the indicator LED is green, the battery is more than 80% charged. Green flashing indicates 50-80% capacity. If the light is red, the battery is charged to 20-50%. Red flashing indicates less than 20% of the battery capacity remains. The indication only works correctly with RCR123A / 16340 rechargeable batteries.
Charging. plug the included cable into the flashlight (USB-C connector) and plug the other end of the cable into a computer, power bank or USB mains or car adapter (not included). The side button lights up red during charging and turns green when fully charged. After charging the flashlight, reseal the charging connector with the rubber cap. Charging a fully discharged battery takes approximately 1.5 hours. In an emergency, the flashlight can also be used while charging, but only the 5 lumen white mode and red modes will be available.
Low battery warning: if the battery voltage drops below the set level, the headlamp will automatically switch to lower power modes. If the headlamp is already switched to the lowest power mode and the battery is critically low, the indicator in the button will flash red. However, the headlamp will continue to illuminate until the battery is completely depleted. Note: the low battery warning is calibrated to the voltage of rechargeable Li-ion batteries only.
To lock the headlamp against unintentional switching on: loosen the battery cap of the headlamp a quarter turn, this breaks the electrical contact and the headlamp cannot be switched on. The button can also be locked electronically - with the headlamp switched off, hold the button down for 3 seconds. After locking, the flashlight flashes red. To unlock, hold the button again for 3 seconds.
