Three-season down sleeping bag Warmpeace Viking 900

TheWarmpeace Viking 900 is the 260 grams heavier brother of the Viking 600. It is a very popular three-season sleeping bag with a focus on spring and autumn. The Viking 900 is the solution for colder nights or more wintery sleepers. Couples and married couples for traveling together often choose the Viking 900 for women and the Viking 600 for men.

TheViking 900 takes up 22 × 42 cm in the compression sleeve. The 180 cm variant weighs 1,370 grams without the pack. The down sleeping bag uses 900 grams of duck down for insulation and has a temperature limit of -14 °C.

Materials of the Warmpeace Viking 900 sleeping bag

Thesleeping bag is made of lightweight Loft Nylon DWR+, which can repel water up to 1,250 mm water column. This strong and mechanically durable material works well with the down fill and allows it ample loft.

Theinside of the sleeping bag is made of Loft Nylon. The material is comfortable to the touch and allows for quick moisture transport. The black color in the sun helps the moisture evaporate faster even in negative temperatures. This part of the sleeping bag is made in China.

Inside the sleeping bag, high quality duck feathers are used, which come from European farms. The feathers are of 90/10 quality, have a filling capacity of 600 cuin and are stored in "Z" chambers. The filling of the sleeping bag takes place in Germany under strict standards. The filling can absorb 270 grams of water. The entire sleeping bag allows a RET of 3.7m2 Pa/W-1.

      Sleeping bag construction

Thezipper of the sleeping bag is a branded Japanese YKK and the entire length is backed by a flap with a rigid flap, so it does not tear when fastening and unfastening. The slider pull is rotatable and allows fastening from both the inside and outside of the sleeping bag. The zipper is two-way, so in addition to the traditional unzipping, you can also unzip it from the feet up to possibly vent overheated leg room.

The hood has an elasticated drawstring and can be pulled down nicely around the head. So does the drawstring collar around the shoulders. The drawstring collar and hood together prevent unwanted heat leaks. Inside the sleeping bag there is a zippered pocket for small items such as glasses, headlamp or cell phone.

      Which sleeping bag to choose?

TheWarmeace Viking 900 is 80 cm wide at the shoulders and 50 cm wide at the feet. If the sleeping bag is too narrow for you, you can reach for the wide version of the Viking 900 180 cm WIDE or add the Warmpeace Extender 180.

It's up to you whether you choose to zip up at the left or right hand. For right-handed people we recommend the zipper on the left hand and for left-handed people on the right, but notthe rule. If you're travelling as a couple, think about putting two sleeping bags with opposite zippers together. Even if they are different lengths, just allow for the longer one to overhang the top.

TIP: You can also combine different models in the Viking sleeping bag range. For example, the Viking 900 170 cm Left Zip + Viking 600 195 cm Right Zip. If you're not sure about your choice, don't hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to help you with your choice.

Thermal insulation capabilities of the Viking 900 sleeping bag

      • Comfort -7 °C
      • Limit -14 °C
      • Extreme -34 °C

These temperatures are the result of standardised laboratory tests and are far from being the most important factor when choosing a sleeping bag. In fact, only the limit temperature is of interest and can serve as a guide when comparing the dry capabilities of sleeping bags of the same class and age.

Storage and maintenance of a down sleeping bag

The Warmpeace Viking 900sleeping bag comes with two covers: a storage and a compression cover. When not in use, store the sleeping bag in the spacious storage pack. The down filling will be in its natural fluffy state and you will extend the life of the sleeping bag. The size L compression pack has the volume of an 11-litre bottle and features drawstring straps so you can compress it even further.

Wash the sleeping bag yourself in an automatic washing machine. Wash it at 30 °C, use the wool programme and special liquid detergents that are not aggressive to the down, do not disturb its structure, wash out well when soaking and do not crystallise in the fine folds of the filling. Never clean chemically. After washing, spin properly.

Dry the sleeping bag in a tumble dryer with warm air up to 30 °C or horizontally, shaking it occasionally and thoroughly. Allow several days for the sleeping bag to dry. Detailed instructions can be found on the label inside the sleeping bag.
