The Sawyer TAP filter is super easy to use. Just hook it up to a standard 17–20 mm diameter faucet or garden hose spigot, turn on the water, and filter it into a clean container.

Always use higher pressure when backwashing the filter to maximize flow and filter life. The filter can be cleaned by backwashing it from the water supply using the attachment.
After filtering the water, it MUST NOT FREEZE! This would damage the porous membrane. This applies to virtually all porous filters. When used in freezing conditions, it is necessary to carry the filter in your breast pocket or elsewhere on your body (given its size, this is no problem) until the filter is thoroughly dry.
